Professor Dr. Viswanath Tammanagowda Patil, son of a freedom fighter of Dharwad in Karnataka, is an erudite scholar of repute with national and international recognition. With a First Class Masters Degree in Political Science from Karnatak University, another Masters Degree from Me Master University, Canada a first class First P.G. Diploma in Gandhian Studies, a Ph.D., from the Karnatak University for his outstanding research work on Jawaharlal Nehru's contribution to the National Movement, a D.Litt., from the Magadh University for his creative and original work on Mahatma Gandhi and his Leadership Role in the Civil Disobedience Movement, Dr. Patil was also recently conferred w^h Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) by the Global Peace University, Opiende, Friesland, The Netherlands for outstanding work done in the areas of social sciences for bringing peace on Earth in the third millennium.

A well known specialist in the field of personality studies, Dr. Patil has had a distinguished career for more than three decades occupying a number of important positions in academia- He has been closely associated as Member/ Chairman/Vice-President/President with many professional institutions or educational organisations / academic bodies in a number of institutions in India and abroad.

Professor Patil is an outstanding teacher with vast experience and is a researcher of high repute with most cited scholarly works in India and abroad. He is a committed scholar emphasising new and challenging values of higher education and has organised a very large number of seminars, symposia, workshops, training programmes for more than three thousand college teachers (refresher and orientation courses) for the betterment of higher education. He has been awarded the coveted National Fellowship by the University Grants Commission (1986-88) for his original work. On this occasion he visited Trinity College, Cambridge University, England and India Office Library Records, London.

Professor Dr. V.T. Patil has been the recipient of national and international honours bearing Gold medals and citations for his outstanding contribution to the field of higher education, for promoting Peace and Understanding through publication of a number of books and research articles, for meritorious service in the field of social service and literature, for outstanding contribution to human rights education, for contribution in the field of educational planning and administration, for achievements in the field of University teaching, research and academic administration, for outstanding contribution and research on Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, for contribution and dedication to Astro Science/ Spiritual Science for the case of Human Welfare.

Dr. Patil has travelled very extensively both within and outside the country.

The towering personality of Dr. Patil is a rare combination of psychology ethics, spiritualism, wisdom, concern for humanity as also for human values; a committed and concerned administrator for all sections in the society. He is a well-known academic and an academic administrator. Dr. Patil's leadership qualities are par excellence. Dr. Patil with his unique exemplary qualities of leadership brought the Pondicherry University on the national map as a University of excellance. Under Dr. Patil's leadership, Pondicherry University was awarded A4 stars out of A5 stars by the National Council for Assessment and Accreditation; an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission. The University Grants Commission has categorised 115 Universities across the country on the basis of "Performance Composite Indicators". Of the 115 Universities that have been categorised, Pondicherry University is the only one earmarked for 100 percent of one third development grants with the Composite Performance Indicator as much as 76.87%. This places Pondicherry University among the top dozen Universities in India. These wen-merited achievements are indicators of his success.

Prof. G.P. THAKUR, of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi has three decades of experience in teaching, research and administration. He was Head, Psychology, Dean, faculty of social sciences, and science and technology and Director career planning and counselling centre. He held many administrative posts such as Registrar and Finance Officer. He could make lasting impact in all the posts of the University.

He was Fellow of World Association of Social Psychiatry (Zurich), Assistant Area Chairman of International Council of Psychologists (USA); Foreign affiliate, APA; Recorder in Indian Science Congress and on the editorial board of the International Journal of Sports Psychology (Italy). He is President of IAAP and Vice-President of the Sport Psychology Association of Tndia. He has been professionally associated with many Indian and foreign Universities. He traveled extensively in different parts of the world. A large numbers of research monographs, project reports and research papers published in the national and international journals of repute, are to his credit. He is therapist of repute in treating drug addicts. 34 scholars have obtained their Ph.D degrees under his guidance. Mirny nauonul and internal awards are to his credit. clinical Psychometry is his area of specialization.

Prof. S. BALAKRISHNAN, is a trained Clinical Psychologist, served as Asst. Prof. of Psychology and Clinical Psychology in General Hospital and Madras Medical College for 3 decades. He is presently serving in Sri Ramachandra Medical University (Deemed). He is teacher, trainer and professional service provider of repute. Thousands of his students have benefited. He is also a Consultant Psychologist for personnel selection of Union Co (Motors),, Hydraulics, Carburettors, Unicorn, Standard Motors, SPIC and several other organisations. He is also examiner and board member to many educational institutions.

He is instrumental in starting M.Phi! Clinical Psychlology in Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (Deemed University) in 2000, Which is the 4th course in India. Prof, K. RANGASWAMI, is a Clinical Psychologist and a doctorate: served for 3 decades in Institute of Mental Health, Presently he is with Sri Ramachandra Medical University. He has published 56 research articles, 3 Psychological tests and chapters in 4 books. He served as Editor of Indian Journal of Clinical Psychology during 1994- 1996. He is a consultant, trainer, examiner, behaviour therapist and scholar of repute. Thousands, benefited- His scholarship in Behaviour Therapy techniques, lndian systems of Psychotherapy is praise worthy. His publications on Anger management by behaviour therapy, child-rearing practices in the changing social context of India,Indian model of stages in human development and developmental tasks, self-actualization and beyond: union with universal self-the highest motive from Indian perspective. Founder, Head,
Department of Psychology as Philosophy,

Dr. K. NARAYANAN, a doctorate in Philosophy served the society for more than 35 year as teacher and leader of teaching community of repute. He was founder head of the Department Psychology and Philosophy of Tagore Arts College, Pondicherry.

He has authored 11 books in Tamil related to Philosophy. Twice he was awarded the best book award by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Thousands of students have benefited because of his skillful teaching and life guidance. For several years he was the President for the College Teachers Association of Pondicherry. He is well known in the academic circles of both Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu.
